POLICY STATEMENT The use of the LCSD150Net (the system), the computer network owned and operated by the District, is solely for the purpose of enabling those permitted to use it to engage in communication related to work, educational studies and research consistent with this Policy and the Philosophy, Goals and Objectives, and Mission of the District in providing Catholic education to its students and is not to be used for personal purposes. GUIDELINES and PROCEDURES A SYNOPSIS OF THE RESTRICTIONS ON USE POLICY NETWORK 1. The use of the Lakeland R.C.S.S.D. #150 Network (LCSD150Net) is to promote the exchange of information in order to further education and research, that is consistent with the mission of the Lakeland R.C.S.S.D. #150. 2. The LCSD150Net is not for private or commercial business use or political purposes. 3. Any use of the LCSD150Net for illegal activity is prohibited. 4. Use of the LCSD150Net to access obscene or pornographic material is prohibited. 5. Sending material likely to be offensive or objectionable to recipients is prohibited. 6. Using programs that harass LCSD150Net users, or infiltrate a computing system, and/or damage the software components is prohibited. 7. You will make the most efficient use of network resources to minimize interference with others. 8. Any use of LCSD150Net that accesses outside resources must conform to the “Acceptable Use Policy”. 9. Subscriptions to listserves, bulletin boards, and on-line services must be pre-approved by the District. SECURITY 10. You will respect the rights and property of others, and will not improperly access, misappropriate or misuse the files, data or information of others. 11. You may not share your account with anyone, or leave the account open or unattended. 12. You will keep all accounts and passwords confidential and not accessible to others. 13. You will change passwords regularly, using combinations of letters and numbers, avoiding standard English works and names. 14. You are responsible for making back-up copies of the documents critical to you. SOFTWARE 15. You are responsible to take precautions to prevent viruses on your own equipment, and Lakeland R.C.S.S.D. #150 equipment. 16. The illegal installation of copyrighted software or files for use on District computers is prohibited. 17. Please see the District’s System Manager to install any software on District computers. ELECTRONIC MAIL (E-MAIL) (where applicable) 18. District e-mail is provided for the purpose of exchanging information consistent with the mission of the Lakeland R.C.S.S.D. #150. -LCSD150Net e-mail cannot be used for private or commercial offerings of products, or services for sale, or to solicit products or services. -District e-mail cannot be used for political purposes; -District e-mail messages are subject to District review at any time. -District e-mail should not be used to broadcast messages outside/beyond the District’s Wide Area Network. 19. Mail should be deleted regularly from District e-mail server directories to conserve file space. Interpretation, application and modification of this policy is within the sole discretion of the District.
