DELF

Diplome d’etudes en language francaise (DELF) is a French language diploma awarded to students by the National Ministry of Education of France and is recognized around the world. DELF officially certifies the ability of students to use French in real-life situations. To receive a diploma, a student must pass 4 skill areas: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

Once a student receives their DELF, they have it for life. It will provide students with additional educational advantages, as this diploma is recognized worldwide. It also gives them the necessary credentials to apply for employment positions with a French language requirement, and apply to any francophone university in the world.

Lakeland Catholic is the only District in the region who have staff trained and certified to administer the exam needed for a student to receive their DELF. Our staff are also available to provide the support needed to prepare students to write the exam, and provide them with all the tools necessary to succeed. The exam is available to all French Immersion students in our District, and there are a variety of levels, which can be written during a child’s French Immersion education.

This exam is completely voluntary, and grade 12 immersion students who choose to write it must still write the mandatory French Language Arts 30 diploma exam.
