AISI

What is AISI?

The Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI) is a bold approach to improving student learning by encouraging teachers, parents, and the community to work collaboratively to introduce innovative projects that address local needs to improve student learning.

Initiated in 1999 by the Alberta Government and its partners, AISI provides targeted grant funding to school authorities to improve student learning and enhance student engagement and performance.

To date, AISI has inspired almost 2,000 projects that have been filled with innovation, creativity, and a true desire to improve student learning. These projects explore new approaches in teaching to ensure our students have the best possible learning opportunities.

What is our project?

At Lakeland Catholic our project is entitled “Self-Directed Learning in the 21st Century”. In our rapidly changing world, students entering the workforce in the coming years will require vastly different skills than in the past. The ability to think critically, self assess, work collaboratively, and use technology wisely will be crucial. Through the use of assessment for learning, inquiry-based learning, and technology integration the goal of the project is to help our students at Lakeland Catholic Schools learn new ways of thinking, learning and collaborating so that they may thrive in the 21st Century
